Throughout Scripture we find God inhabiting people and places. Scripture teaches that He inhabits the praise of His people. So it makes sense that wherever the people of God go, God is there living through them. Scripture also teaches that people who follow Christ are holy (not by anything we've done by the way), which means wherever we go we stand on holy ground. The Bible is full of stories about God's people praising, ministering, encountering and serving Him in places where we would least expect it. From places like Shechem, Mt. Horeb, Shiloh, Nazareth, and Sychar to Jerricho, Bethsaida and Bethel, Scripture records amazing things taking place in the lives of God's people. Some places in Scripture aren't great either, like Sodom, or Golgatha, but the events of what happens at, or through these places points to God's glory, faithfulness, grace, salvation, and ultimate power.
Whether it's in the middle of a desert, on a mountain, in a warehouse, under a tree, a temple, or in a boat, God's people can declare His glory and minister in His name. We don't have to have an elaborate facility with stained glass, a steeple, a massive pulpit, padded seats awash in commemorative brass plates to experience meaningful worship, serve in His name and experience the unconditional love of a Christ-centered community. And hear me, there's nothing wrong with churches who have buildings with steeples and stained glass!
From her infancy, Mosaic has been a church committed to USING buildings, finances and people for the glory of God. Buildings, leaders and finances are necessary to help people know and experience Jesus Christ. However, make no mistake, we do not worship our leaders, finances, or the buildings where we gather for corporate worship. WE are the body of Christ! WE are the church! WE are ALL Christ-followers. A building is simply a building, but the Spirit of God lives in and through His people We worship GOD, not buildings!
Our new location at 141-A Patchwork Row, in the Grace Office Park off Highway 123 is simply another building where the people of God will gather to worship, praise, serve, fellowship and declare His glory. You're invited to join us anytime. Whew, more walls to sand, rooms to paint, carpet to put down, and things to do before the people of God gather for corporate worship! Praise be to God for His provision!
